NEW OUTDOOR CINEMA

As every summer, the tradition is renewed. The old cinema Astra is gone, sigh! But… a new outdoor cinema, Cine Naxos, is ready for Hollywood nights in the middle of the Aegean Sea!

CINE ASTRA: SURFERS LOOKING FOR A GOD WITH A HUMAN FACE

Hard to imagine a première in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. Even more if there are frozen beers and nachos to go with the show and a Babylon of languages that saturate the small space of the outdoor cinema Astra. All just a few steps from the beach of St. George and a few inches from an ashtray tormented by a Greek father who smokes like a Hollywood star. As soon as the lights go out an owl soars over the heads of the audience: it’s time to hunt. One child exclaims: <Batman!> After a while many men, especially boys who look like sportsmen, begin to fidget politely on the folding chairs with green plastic seats. Some exchange opinions on this summer’s shows. One whispers: <If only they would screen Hangover II …> His neighbor whispers back a surprising idea, bothering his girlfriend: <They should hold nighttime screenings of Point Break. Isn’t Naxos the island of (wind)surfing?> A third film-goer, whose build does not seem ideal for water sports: <Patrick Swayze could very well be a modern Apollo, couldn’t he?> Then the resigned men join their women immersing themselves in the plot of the rom com.
